Jasper

Jasper, Canada (December 2018)

Our winter holiday trip to Jasper in the Canadian Rockies was not intended to be a ski only week. We wanted to ride a dog sled. Beside the dog sledding we thought a hike through the Maligne Canyon should be really cool. And it was.
In the summer of 2012 we have driven with a RV from Vancouver to Whitehorse. We have seen a lot of bears, however we did not see a moose. We hoped to see a moose in the Jasper Wildlife viewing.

So, the schedule for the week was:
2 days (free heel) skiing;
1 day Wildlife Viewing and hiking the Mailgne Canyon;
1 day (free heel) skiing;
1 day Dog Sledding and
the last day (free heel) skiing.

Jasper Dog Sledding (December 2018)

On the 28th December we drove to Cold Fire Creek, just over Valemont in British Columbia in Canada. At Cold Fire Creek the dogs and sleds were ready to go for a dog sledding tour. We had 8 Alaskan Huskies before our sled. The Alaskan Husky has shorter hair than the Siberian Husky. It should be too warm in this environment for the Siberian Husky. The huskies were all barking. There were 48 of them.
After a short instruction how to operate the dogsled we started the trail through gorgeous scenery. As soon as the huskies ran they stopped barking. However when the huskies stopped running, they started barking.  Just after the turn halfway we had a BBQ lunch. After the lunch the trail went down and back to Cold Fire Creek.
